Obituary of Georgia Mae Taber
Georgia Mae (nee Wright) Taber
1927 – 2023
Georgia Taber (nee Wright) passed away November 29, 2023. She left behind four children, seven
grandchildren and 96 years of fabulous memories. Born in Fabius, NY in 1927, she remembers seeing
horses and wagons tied up at the general store, listening to mystery programs on the radio, and
searching for enemy aircraft during WWII. She married William R. Taber Sr. in 1948 and commenced a
series of moves around NY State with the NY State Conservation Department.
Over the next seven years Georgia and Bill brought four children into the world: William Jr., Mary,
Michele, and Martha. They moved to Silver Creek, NY where Bill became a biology teacher. During the
next several decades she witnessed the commercialization of the television, the transistor, the
computer, and the first steps on the moon. It was during these years that Georgia taught herself the
world of antiques. She started a business in her home and eventually became a recognized expert in
antiques, specializing in art, glassware, furniture, and jewelry. Throughout her 60 years in antiques, she
participated in shops in Hamburg, Clarence, Sheridan, Springville, and Westfield. Georgia was well
known throughout Western New York for not only her expertise, but also her frequent appearance at
auctions, shows, shops, and sales. She was a consummate collector of stamps, and a member of the Erie
Co. Philatelic Society. She loved collecting sport cards with her Grandsons. She will be dearly missed by
her family and dealers in the antique world.
Private services were held by the family earlier in the week. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hole-Parker
Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY. Please share online condolences at www.holeparkerfc.com.
