Obituary of Gaynor S. Homokay
Gaynor S. Homokay, 82, of Silver Creek NY passed away on Monday afternoon, December 12,
2022 at Absolut Care in Westfield surrounded by his loving family.
Gaynor was born on March 19, 1940 in Lackawanna NY, the son of the late Geraldine (Lewis)
and Dr. Ernest Homokay. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers Duane and Robbin
Homokay and his former wife, Sharon Homokay.
Gaynor was a proud graduate of Silver Creek Central School and served honorably in the US
Army. He worked for several US and foreign companies as a United States Customs broker
until his retirement in 2014.
He was an avid golfer, a lifelong member of Tri-County Country Club, a staunch Republican and
would debate anyone on the current and past political climate. He was most proud of the
musical talent, kindness, and humor instilled in his beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew,
Emily and Nathan.
Surviving are his two loving daughters, Marcy (John Bailey) Sweetman of Silver Creek, NY and
Molly (John) Merrill of Arkwright, NY, four grandchildren, Daniel and Andrew Sweetman, Emily
and Nathan Merrill. Most importantly, Gaynor leaves behind his most precious brother, Roy
Homokay of Dunkirk, NY.
