Obituary of Carmella A. Tampio
Carmella A. Tampio, 90, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 3, 2022 at the Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
She was born in Buffalo, NY on May 24, 1932 the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Lazzaro) Nappo.
Carmella is survived by her four loving children, Michael (Kathy) Tampio, Susan (George) Borrello, Joseph (Coral) Tampio and Ann (Stephen) Corcoran; eight cherished grandchildren, Michael (Annie) Borrello, Lindsay (Jay) O’Connor, Dominick (Sarah) Borrello, Diana (Jarrod) Mills, Anna (Tim) Wittenbrink, Vincent (Sarah) Tampio, Dr. Alex (Dessa) Tampio, Kristan (Jimmy) Salinas; step- grandchildren,Grace (Allen) Earnheart and Gabe Corcoran; fourteen great- grandchildren; a dear brother, Bill (Karen) Nappo.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years Vincent J. Tampio, three sisters, Mary Nappo, Shirley Barris, Diane Johnson and a brother, Frank Nappo.
Carm was a graduate of Silver Creek High School in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart on July 12, 1952 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Silver Creek. Vince and Carm lived throughout the United States and traveled extensively domestically and abroad.
Carm was an active member of the Silver Creek Senior Citizens Center and volunteered at TLC Lakeshore Hospital. She was a member of the Lakeshore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Tri-Country Club. She was a past President of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Social Club and a proud member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church.
Carm worked part time at the Lodico Pharmacy and was a lunch lady at Silver Creek Central High School. She continued to meet the “Lunch Bunch” friends monthly and was an avid card player. She will be dearly missed by the Monday group of special friends.
Carm’s biggest gift in life was her family. She received so much happiness and joy from them, intermediate and extended family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her dearest friends and loved the beach. She will be dearly missed by all and will be remembered fondly as a “Spunky Little Lady”.
A family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made in Carmella’s memory to Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY 14136.
