Obituary of Janet J Lajoie

Janet J. Lajoie, 99, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Thursday evening, April 7, 2022 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Home in Greenhurst, NY.

She was born in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Kolb) Rusch.

Surviving are by two daughters, Jan Nearhoof of Silver Creek and June (Brian) Fortney of Mayville, NY; four sons, Brett (Bobbie) Kincade of Columbia, MO, Thomas (Rae) Zajas of Las Vegas, NV, William “Jay” Zajas of Murfreesboro, TN and Paul (Linda) Zajas of Mesa, AZ; a step-daughter, Kathy (late Frank) Anticola of Lackawanna, NY.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Zajas, her second husband, George Lajoie, three sisters, Helen Beliveau, Rita Tynan, Avey Giacchino and a brother, Harold Rusch.

Janet was a 1940 graduate of Dunkirk High School. She worked as a seamstress for Van Raalte Co. in Dunkirk, she worked for her brother as a real estate agent at Rusch Real Estate. She also was the owner and operator of Swan St. Diner in Buffalo, NY for a number of years.

Janet was an active member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC in Silver Creek, she served as the secretary for the Mt. Carmel Social Club.

She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, traveling all over the country to visit her children and sewing. In her younger years she made clothes for her kids.

Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY at 10 AM. Please assemble at the Church. Interment will be private in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
