Obituary of Deborah Kenney

On March 10, 2022, Deborah Grace Kenney (nee Miller) was welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father through her faith in Jesus Christ’s redemptive work.  Deborah was born in Corry, PA on November 4, 1932.  Her family moved to the Westfield area and in 1951 she graduated from Westfield Academy.  Following high school, Deborah attended Jamestown Business School, where she earned a business degree and then moved to Missouri.  In Springfield, Missouri she attended Central Bible Institute where she earned her BA.  Upon completion of her schooling, she returned to the Western NY area where she worked as a secretary for both the gas company and Blackstone in Jamestown.

In 1957, she met John J. Kenney, Sr whom she later married in 1963.  Although Deborah enjoyed working outside the home, her true passion was raising her two children and creating a loving, God-centered home in Perrysburg, NY.  She and her husband were inseparable.  They played the piano and organ at church and would often provide an impromptu concert for their house guests in their music room.  They both loved to travel around the country in search of the best slice of pie and frequently found themselves off the beaten path.  They often would invite friends to join them on an adventure, a theater production, or a concert.  Deborah also pursued other passions such as painting, writing poetry, baking, and reading a book from her extensive library.  She was deeply devoted to and cherished the many missionaries she supported around the world.

Deborah perfectly complimented her husband.  While he was the life of the party, it was her attention to the finer details that made the party a spectacular event.  He had a magnetic personality and knew everyone, while she privately nurtured relationships that lasted for decades.  While he lived life seemingly without a care in the world, she was the voice of reason and kept the family grounded.

Deborah was one of seven children born to the late Robert and Mabel Miller (nee Burgher).  She was preceded in death by all her siblings: Mary Elizabeth Miller, Esther Miller, Dave (June) Miller, Paul (Ruth) Miller and twin brothers James and John Miller.

Deborah leaves behind a daughter, Rebekah (John) Tombaugh; a son John (Gina) Kenney, Jr ; granddaughters Mariah (Anthony Nagel) Jones and Ashley Kenney; a grandson John Kenney III; along with one great-grandson Isaiah Nagel.

Donations can be made in Deborah’s name to Mill City Assembly of God located at 167 Mercy Lane; Dalton, PA 18414 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western New York Chapter located at 2805 Wehrle Drive; Buffalo, NY 14221 or visit them at https://www.alz.org/wny.

Calling hours for friends and family are on Friday, March 18th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 19th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  A funeral service will follow beginning at 3:00 PM at Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave; Silver Creek, NY 14136.
