Obituary of Helen L Porpiglia

Helen L. Porpiglia, 93, of Silver Creek, NY passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Greenhurst, NY.

She was born on December 6, 1928 in Silver Creek, NY to Henry B. and Anna M. (Holzinger) Miller. On April 10, 1948, she married Salvatore C. Porpiglia and he preceded in death on September 14, 2011.

A lifelong resident of Silver Creek, Helen graduated form Silver Creek High School in 1946. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her husband, Salvatore and family- especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, crafting, which included sewing, knitting and plastic canvas crafts. She was active on her class reunion committees for many years. In their earlier years, Helen also enjoyed going dancing with her husband ( she preferred a Cuban heel, which she said was best for dancing).

Surviving are her five children, Thomas A. Porpiglia of Webster, NY, Sandra A. (Tim Bailey) Porpiglia of Geneva, NY, Samuel C. Porpiglia of Silver Creek, Cathy Jo Pitts of Jamestown, NY and Michael J. (Judy) Porpiglia of Sinclairville, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren including Jennifer and Morgan Moran, Dave (Lori) and Todd Polisoto, Beth Ann Nencetti, Abbey (Rob) Allen, Adam (Michelle Frey) Nedvesky, eleven great- grandchildren including Elise, Anna, Sophia, Olivia, Claudia, Marya, Vikki, Aspen, Aster, Jade and Lillian and two great-great grandchildren, Mia Rose and Zayn.

Helen was preceded in death by five sister, Virginia Ball, Alice Schnur, Nola Guzzetta, Annie Beamish and Donna Sikorski.

Friends will be received from 11- 1 PM Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Friday, January 7, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, (Due to the Covid-19 pandemic masks are required). Interment will be private at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
