Obituary
Mary T. Prue, 80, of Silver Creek ,NY died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning September 25,2018 at the Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
She was born in Plattsburgh, NY , the daughter of the late Annis Lawton.
Surviving is a very dear friend whom she lived with for the last 22 years Jackie Volk of Silver Creek; close friends David and Robin Grandin of Silver Creek ,NY and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, maternal grandparents, Pearl and Grace Lawton all who helped to raise Mary and a brother Thomas Prue.
Mary graduated from Clyde High School in 1956, she then enrolled at the State University of Morrisville School of Nursing. She earned her nursing degree and immediately went to work at the Cortland Hospital in Cortland New York as a LPN. She retired as a supervisor at the West Seneca Developmental Center .
Mary was a very active participant in the Order of the Eastern Star of New York in Forestville, NY Chapter # 247. Currently she held the position of District Deputy Grand Matron for the Chautauqua District, she also served as Grand Matron and a committee chairman several times. Every July she visited the Eastern Star Nursing Home, where she helped to raise money at the annual bazaar.
She enjoyed crafting ,knitting ,crocheting, making and collected porcelain dolls. Mary loved horses and would volunteer at the Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Stable in East Aurora, NY.
Mary will be remembered as a selfless caregiver for the mentally and physically challenged people of the world.
A memorial service will held, date ,time and location to be announced. Arrangements are by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek ,NY.
