Obituary of Donald W. Priest

Obituary Donald W. Priest, 80, of Cherry Creek, NY formerly of Silver Creek, NY died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3,2020 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY. He was born in Gowanda, NY on October 4,1939, the son of the late Herbert and Muriel (Morse) Priest. Don is survived by a son, Jay Priest of Frewsburg, NY; a daughter, Brenda Blazevic of Hamburg, NY; seven cherished grandchildren, Michelle (Will) Newell, Judy (Lee) Rosado, Gary and Sam Gallaway, Joey Blazevic Jr., Killian and Tanis Moore; a brother, Alan (Danielle) Priest of Lockport, NY; a sister, Liz Lynch of Lockport, NY. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Wynn Gallaway. Don was a 1957 graduate of Silver Creek High School and attended Cornell University where he studied Veterinary Science. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-60 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960-63 and was a member of the S. Dayton VFW. He worked for Bethlehem Steel for many years retiring as a yard foreman. Don loved animals especially cats and was known around the neighborhood as the foster pet parent. He would rescue anything. His passion was gardening, he could grow anything from potatoes to award winning sunflowers, he also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. At the request of the deceased, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
