Obituary of John F. Aures

Obituary John F. Aures, 75, of Forestville, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 18,2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 4,1944 in Buffalo, NY the son of the Frederick and Marion (O’Neill) Aures. A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran who served from 1965-67. John retired from National Fuel in 2006. His memberships included North- South Skirmish Assoc., where he competed in shooting Civil War firearms, the 9th New York Cavalry Co. F., the Beau Fleuve Chapter of the American Society for Amateur Archaeology and he was a lifetime member and past commandeer of Sheridan VFW Post# 6390 John loved to cook, his specialty was breakfast and his homemade German potato salad. Everybody enjoyed his sense of humor. He was an adventurous man who enjoyed a good party. Survivors include his beloved wife Linda (Pratt) Aures; a daughter, Shannon ( Terry) Aures Karcz of Sheridan, NY; two sons, Joshua (Kathie) Aures of Cincinnati, OH and Paul (Lisa) Granger of Pittsburgh, Pa; eight cherished grandchildren, Kaelyn, Savannah, Eli, Allison, Sophie, Tesa, Brooklyn, and Ashley; a brother, Dennis (Mary Ann) Aures of Buffalo, NY; a dear cousin, Kathleen (Michael) Burgio of Cheektowaga, NY; also survived by several nieces, nephews, six godchildren, many friends and his faithful Lab Ruby. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two best friends, Jimmy Imerese and a close cousin Michael Mohr, both were casualties of the Vietnam War. Friends may call at the Pillar of Fire Fellowship, 221 Lakeshore Dr. West, Dunkirk, NY on Monday, August 24,2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM.
