PUNTA GORDA, FL - Margaret "Maggie" Sackett Brandt, age 86, of Punta Gorda, FL, died unexpectedly at the loving home of her son Mark after living a full life. Maggie was born on April 20, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Edith Trussler and Edward Barry. Maggie was a graduate of Nardin Academy and Rosary Hill College, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. Maggie was first married to Norman A. Sackett of Silver Creek, NY, and later married to Donald C. Brandt from 1977 until his death in 1984. Maggie and her first husband, Norm, had a 90acre grape farm in Silver Creek. She also worked at the law offices of Brandt and Laughlin after her marriage to Don. She worked for her son's business, Silver Creek Countertop Company, as well. Maggie was an active woman. She was a certified lifeguard, and she owned and rode horses on her farm. She skied, skated, hiked, and enjoyed being outdoors. Maggie was also an active reader and a seamstress. Maggie was outgoing and active in her community. She was a volunteer member of the American Red Cross and was involved in the assistance programs for Hurricane Camille. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, the GFWC Punta Gorda Women's Club, the American Association of University Women, the Guild of Our Lady Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Stock Club and book clubs. Maggie is survived by three children, Lawrence (Carla Hendricks) Sackett of NC, Lynn (Wayne) Bartz of FL, and Mark (Jackie) Sackett of Silver Creek, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Dan (Christine) Bartz, Cheryl (Dan) Morrison, Jessie (Jerad) Romero, Jonathan (Heather) Sackett, Nathan (Lindsay) Sackett and Roberta (Adam) Kilburn. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Owen and Aiden Kilburn, Lilah Kate and Finn Sackett, Claire and Austin Romero, Amelia and Matilda Sackett, and Ava Bartz. Maggie was predeceased by an infant son and by her sister, Dorothy Allaire. Maggie will be interred at the Evergreen Cemetery following a private service.
