Obituary of Sophie C. Corsaro
Sophie C. Corsaro, 86, of Silver Creek, NY, passed away Sunday morning, August 30, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY surrounded by her loving family.
Sophie was born in Angola, NY on April 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Leone) DeMatteo. She attended Lake Shore Central School, worked for the former Forbes and Wagner, and retired from Remtronics of Silver Creek with over 27 years of service.
Sophie was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Silver Creek, where she helped with bingo for more than 25 years. She was very familyoriented and enjoyed attending all her children's and grandchildren's school activities and sporting events. She had an incredible collection of angels. Survivors include her children, David (Teresa) Corsaro Sr., Dennis (Gena) Corsaro, and Denise "Dee" Corsaro, all of Silver Creek, NY; grandchildren, Kristin, Kayla and Karly Corsaro, David (Isabella) Corsaro Jr., and Joseph Corsaro; greatgrandchildren, Karter Corsaro and Caleb; and sister, Connie Manzella of Silver Creek.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dominic "Mickey" Corsaro; brothers, James and Michael DeMatteo; and sisters, Laura Gugino and Josephine Highsmith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Thursday morning, September 3, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Silver Creek, NY. Calling hours will be held today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY. Burial will be private at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Silver Creek.
