Obituary of Louis D. Meck
Louis D. Meck , 89, of Silver Creek , NY died Sunday , February 14,2016 at his residence with his wife at his side. He was born in Silver Creek, NY on March 26,1926 to the late Peter and Josephine ( Randazzo) Meck.
He was a graduate of Silver Creek High School ,” Class of 1944”and the Bryant and Stratton Business Institute of Buffalo,NY. A Naval veteran of WWII and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. He belonged to the E.J. O’ Connor Knights of Columbus council # 5356 , where he served as past Grand Knight and past Treasurer. He also was a member of the American Legion Post # 3148 of Silver Creek,NY.
Louis retired as Chief General Accountant from Al Tech Specialty Steel Corp. ( Allegheny Ludlum) after more than 33 years of service.
In his younger years , he sang in the church choir , participated in bowling leagues , liked to dance, enjoyed entertaining his family and friends and was known for his generosity. Louis loved his children and adored his grandchildren.
Louis is survived by his wife of 42 years , Genevieve (Wozniak) Meck , two daughters , Mary Anne (John) Dellagratto of New Cumberland , Pa. , Lugeane ( Phillip) Byrnes of Windham ,N.H. , three step sons , Ted ( Karen) Herc of Brant , NY , Karl Herc of N. Collins , NY , Daniel ( Wendy) of Yorba Linda , Ca., eleven grandchildren , Krista Dellagratto , Lauren ( Josh) Kobylarz , Jenelle ( Robert) Bryan , Jacqueline Byrnes, Shawn ( Lisa) Herc , Cory ( Krystal) Herc , Renee ( Bob) Catalano , Colleen ,Nick ,Max , and Halina Herc. ,and eight great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette ( Fasanello) Meck (1973) , four sisters , Carmella “ Minnie” Nicosia , Josephine Chiavetta , Angeline Ameno , Frances Cotrona and a brother , Joseph Meck.
Friends may call at the Hole- Parker Funeral Chapel , 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek,NY on Wednesday , Feb. 17,2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt Carmel R.C. Church , 165 Central Ave. Silver Creek , NY., Thursday at 10a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
