Obituary of Ellen S. Gilbert

Ellen S. Patterson-Gilbert, 52, of Dunkirk, NY passed away Monday evening October 24, 2016 at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. with her family at her side. She went to be with her mother Martha and brother Eric. She was born on July 15, 1964 in Buffalo, NY the daughter of Vernon and the late Martha ( Lyons) Patterson. Ellen was a graduate of Silver Creek Central School Class of 1982. She worked as a cook at the Dunkirk Conference Center. She had many interests, in her younger years she enjoyed boating, skiing and fishing. Recently she dabbled in landscaping, home remodeling projects, cooking, and gardening. Ellen loved her flower garden. She was an avid Yankees fan and liked to listen to Classic Rock music. Survivors include her father, Vernon Patterson of Silver Creek, NY , two sons, Justyn Vara of Silver Creek ,Eric Vara of Dunkirk, NY, a daughter Desiree ( Robert) Sundquist of Jamestown, NY, loving companion, Matthew Cole of Dunkirk, her pet pug, “ Beau”, also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Besides her mother she was preceded in death by a brother, Eric Patterson. Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4:00p.m. until the time of services at 7:00p.m..
