Obituary of Robert N. Bailey
Robert N. “ Bob” Bailey,81, of Sheridan, NY tool and die maker by trade, and heavy equipment operator by preference, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon October 28,2016 at his home.
Bob was born in Silver Creek, NY on December 15, 1934, the youngest son of the late Sherman and Mary Louise ( Geib)Bailey. Except for a six year residency in Deland ,Fla., Bob spent the rest of his life in Western N.Y. He was educated in Silver Creek schools and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Bob credited his leadership, organizational and managerial skills to the regimented and disciplined life in the service.
Bob was a member of the Masonic Silver Lodge #757 F &AM, a social member of the Silver Creek Fireman’s Assoc., Gowanda Moose Lodge# 1382, a life member of the Sheridan VFW Post # 6390, AARP, Silver Creek and Dunkirk Senior Centers.
During his lifetime ,Bob a multi-talented individual worked at Bailey Manufacturing, Ford Motor Co., owned the Sportsman Restaurant from 1977-1980, while in Florida he worked at Brunswick Corp. in DeLand, Aluma- Shield in Daytona Beach, Ferranti Packard in Sheridan, NY Blakely Construction in Silver Creek, and at the time of his retirement he was employed at Gernatt Asphalt Products.
After retirement Bob was proud to have worked for Daytona U.S.A. (Nascar) as a security guard; since he was an avid Nascar fan and Jimmie Johnson was his favorite driver. His other interests included gardening, landscaping, creating culinary delights in the kitchen, and family gatherings.
Surviving are his wife Lorraine(Panowicz) Bailey whom he married on December 27,1980, a son Robert ( Denise)BaileyJr.of Miami Lakes, Fla., a daughter, Lisa ( Scott) Brisley of Brocton, NY, two sisters, Kathryn Hilliker of Irving, NY, Mildred ( Frank) Broderick of Orchard Park, NY, a grandson, Christian Bailey, two granddaughters, Ashley (Jim) Karalus, and Makayla Brisley, two great grandchildren, Nataleigh Fox, and Wyatt Karalus, also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Lee and Milton Bailey, two sisters, Sherma Bailey, and Dorothy Remington.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 5-8p.m. where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00a.m.Internment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Masonic Silver Lodge #757 F& AM will have a service at 7:00p.m..,Tuesday.
