Obituary of John F. Gennuso
John F. Gennuso,98,of Carrollton, Texas formerly of Los Angeles, Ca. died November 25,2016 at the Prestonwood Rehab & Nursing Home in Plano, Texas.
He was born on April 12, 1918 in Fredonia, NY the son of the late Charles and Cora (Polvino) Gennuso .John graduated from Fredonia High School, Class of 1936.He earned a Civil Engineering Degree from a school in Chicago, Illinois. On February 11, 1941 he joined the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was released from active duty on December 15, 1944 with an honorable discharge.
John was employed by the State of Ca., working in the Highway Dept. in San Diego, Ca for 4yrs . He was transferred to the Water Dept. in Los Angeles for the next 21yrs, retiring in1982.He continued to live in the Los Angeles area until 1999. He then relocated to Dallas, Texas and eventually moved in with his nephew Frank Scarlata Jr., who lived in Carrollton, TX.
John loved to read, especially the encyclopedia. He practiced his old engineering problems to keep his mind sharp, and to see if he could still do them. John enjoyed watching TV and listening to Big Band Music and Jazz.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five brothers , Salvatore, Ross, James, George and Peter Gennuso also three sisters, Rose Sedota and Cosimina ( Minnie) and Jessie Gennuso.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Silver Creek ,NY on December 2,2016 at twelve o’clock. There will be no public visitation.
