Obituary
David A. “Dave” Gordon, 72, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation and a member of the Hawk Clan passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
He was born on March 9, 1948 in Gowanda, NY the son of the late Hannibal and Edna (Kenjockety) Gordon. He married Carole Thompson on March 10, 1979.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years Carole Gordon; two sons, Dion Gordon of Lapwai, Idaho and Daniel Seneca of Irving, NY; three daughters, Valerie Seneca of Miami, OK, Christine Seneca and Barbara Ramsey both of Irving, NY; a brother, Richard Gordon of Irving; a sister, Gloria (Roland) Garrow of Irving; 17 Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Danette Gordon, two sons, Matthew Maybee and Harlan Seneca also a brother, Edwin Gordon.
Dave attended Gowanda High School and the Santa Fe Institute of Indian Arts. He was a licensed Dental Lab Technician as well as a licensed welder and plumber. He retired from the Seneca Nation Housing Authority where he worked in the maintenance department. Dave was a talented artist and musician who enjoyed making Indian crafts and jewelry. He lived out west for a number of years where he played drums and sang in several country western bands, mostly in Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico. He was fondly known as the “Dam Yankee Indian”.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek, NY on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 6- 9 PM, where there will be a private funeral service for his family on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at 12:00 PM (noon).
