Joyce M. Snyder, 100, of Dunkirk, NY formerly of Silver Creek, and South Dayton, NY passed away Tuesday evening February 13, 2018 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk, NY.
She was born on January 26, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ernestand Mabel (Ehrke) Kramer.
Joyce was a graduate and the valedictorian of South Dayton High School in 1935. She married Clifford “Kit” Snyder on October 16, 1937 in Dayton, NY and he predeceased her on January 6, 1985.
Joyce worked for many years at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1975 as the laundry supervisor. She also helped her husband run a grape and vegetable farm.
Her memberships included the Silver Creek First United Presbyterian Church, Silver Creek Garden Club and Senior Citizens Club.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping, and gardening. Joyceloved house plants especially cactus.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Merrill of Fredonia, NY, a daughter-in-law, Janice Snyder of Irving, NY, seven grandchildren, Larry (Pam) Snyder, Patricia Snyder, Kenneth (Laurie) Snyder, Valerie (Paul) Simmons, Tina Loveland, Thomas Lawton and Wendy (Jonathan) Heinz, 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Clifford Snyder, a son Marvin Snyder, a granddaughter, Janet Merrill, two brothers, Erwin and Norman Kramer, two sisters, Arlene Ward and Evelyn Edler.Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Forestville Cemetery.

Joyce M. Snyder, 100, of Dunkirk, NY formerly of Silver Creek, and South Dayton, NY passed away Tuesday evening February 13, 2018 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunkirk, NY.
She was born on January 26, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ernestand Mabel (Ehrke) Kramer.
Joyce was a graduate and the valedictorian of South Dayton High School in 1935. She married Clifford “Kit” Snyder on October 16, 1937 in Dayton, NY and he predeceased her on January 6, 1985.
Joyce worked for many years at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1975 as the laundry supervisor. She also helped her husband run a grape and vegetable farm.
Her memberships included the Silver Creek First United Presbyterian Church, Silver Creek Garden Club and Senior Citizens Club.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping, and gardening. Joyceloved house plants especially cactus.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Merrill of Fredonia, NY, a daughter-in-law, Janice Snyder of Irving, NY, seven grandchildren, Larry (Pam) Snyder, Patricia Snyder, Kenneth (Laurie) Snyder, Valerie (Paul) Simmons, Tina Loveland, Thomas Lawton and Wendy (Jonathan) Heinz, 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Clifford Snyder, a son Marvin Snyder, a granddaughter, Janet Merrill, two brothers, Erwin and Norman Kramer, two sisters, Arlene Ward and Evelyn Edler.Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Forestville Cemetery.
