Obituary
Joanne T. Martin, age 83, of Silver Creek, NY died March 14, 2018 at ECMC in Buffalo, NY surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Buffalo, NY on October 4, 1934 the daughter of the late Dewey and Florence (Anderson) Triftshauser.
Joanne grew up in Buffalo and graduated from Kensington High School in 1952. She continued her education at the University of Buffalo earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in 1956.Where she was a cheerleader and a part of the Sigma Kappa Alpha Beta chapter. Joanne served on the Silver Creek School Board for many years and was a former president in 1984.In 1989, she received an Associate degree in Paralegal studies from Hilbert College and was also past deputy county clerk in Mayville, NY .Joanne was a strong advocate of school education and a current board member for Chautauqua Board of EducationE2CCB BOCES.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek and also belonged to the Silver Creek Senior Citizens club and the Sheridan Happy Seniors.
Joanne’s world revolved around her family, she devoted her life to her son Michael who passed away in 2016.She loved animals of all kinds, especially her cats Nelson & Nala.
Surviving are her children Steven (Pamela) Henry of Denver ,CO ,Dean (Marcie) Martin of Sheridan, NY, and Laura (David) Harford of Silver Creek, NY, two sisters, Lynn (Don) Stephenson of NY and Mary Lou (Wes) Zimmer of SC ,eight cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Martin, Noelle Harford, Alexis Henry, Christie Martin, Emily Harford, Elliot Martin, Shelby Harford, and Cole Henry.
In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her husband Elliot (Marty) Martin and a son Michael J. Henry.
Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave. Silver Creek NY on Friday March 16,2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 17,2018 at the First United Presbyterian Church , 35 Park Place Silver Creek NY at 3:00pm(Please assemble at the church).Interment will be private in the Glenwood Cemetery.
